Meet Destiny Brennan
Hello, I am Destiny Brennan, RN, RD, Gestalt Counselor, Holy Fire Reiki Master. I am a holistic integrative healthcare professional who has been a Registered Nurse and Registered Dietitian working in clinical and home settings for over 17 years. I am a practitioner of Gestalt Experiential Therapy and Reiki Energy Healing in my counseling practice. I continue to train with Dr. Allen Berger through his virtual Gestalt Experiential Therapy training program. I am also a certified Psychedelic Guide through training completed in LA and Boulder.
In 2013, while working as an ICU RN, it became clear to me that, in order to take my skills as a healer to the next level, I needed to study and master the art of energy healing. Throughout 2014 and 2015, I studied Reiki with independent Reiki Master Miranda J. Barrett in Altadena, CA. I became a certified Independent Reiki Master in three traditions of Reiki: the Usui Shiki Ryoho natural system of healing from Japan and the modern Reiki systems of Karuna and Holy Fire. My personal reiki practice brought me awareness of my need for greater work-life balance and my own healing needs. Being attuned changed my personal and professional lives forever.
With Reiki, I learned to nurture my clients, channel positive energy and transmute unwanted energy. I have known that I am a healer since childhood and feel fortunate to offer my mastery of energy guiding combined with the clinical, therapeutic and journey-work qualifications I bring to sessions with my clients.
In 2016 I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis, an autoimmune disorder that causes hormone imbalances. If not treated, Hashimoto’s can wreak havoc on the endocrine and nervous systems. On my path to healing, my own Reiki Practice helped balance my nervous system and my mind so that I was able to maintain the calm, centered, and deep-rooted presence necessary for providing integrative healthcare and sacred ceremonies to my clients. I am pleased to announce that, as of Jan 2022, I have healed my autoimmune disorder after five dedicated years of addressing my root causes and taking exquisite care of myself!! Shoutout to the Thyroid Pharmacist for her extremely helpful protocol; much gratitude for having it as a map on the road to healing.
In 2019, I began studying Gestalt Experiential Therapy to enhance my ability to counsel, coach and guide individuals, assist them in integrating experiences and to help them find better self-understanding and motivation for a happier and healthier life. I am very passionate about being able to incorporate Gestalt Experiential therapeutic techniques into my counseling and integration practices. Gestalt Therapy has transformed my life into one of greater self-acceptance and self-knowing and has improved my ability to voice my thoughts, feelings and needs. I have greater awareness about when I am interrupting my ability to get my needs met, using that awareness to stop and address my needs. This has brought me greater self-love, happiness, confidence, a healthy successful marriage and a more comfortable existence.
My mission is to improve the mental and physical health of my clients through expertise and compassionate care, one person at a time.
Destiny’s Therapeutic Approach
The answers we seek are always waiting within
Destiny uses her training in Gestalt Experiential Therapy to guide her clients in identifying and integrating separated or disowned parts of themselves. The goal of the work is to return the client to a greater state of wholeness. This is done through asking questions that provoke new awareness, then, exploring and integrating realizations that surface and developing a plan to achieve the results the client is searching for. Experiments are also used in sessions to enhance awareness and resolve unfinished business. Destiny uses a relational approach through which the client finds their own answers with the support of the relationship and mutual empathetic growth; rather than a top-down approach, where the clinician is above the client, analyzing them. Exploration and interpretation are used to uncover unconscious elements. We tend to reject our true-self to be accepted by others and society. The theraputic relationship creates connectedness and is a primary source for healing where the client can be more whole and authentic seeing that “other people care” and that they can just be themselves and that is enough.
